Tigers Set Single-Game Scoring Record in Rout

In January, the Tigers fell just short of the single-game scoring record of 161 when they posted 159 points against Combine Academy. On Tuesday, the Tigers utilized a remarkable, balanced effort to break Hargrave’s single-game scoring record, beating RockTop Academy by a score of 163-79.

The record breaking performance was chock-full with huge performances in a night where the Tigers shot 63% from the floor, 61% from the three point line, accrued 43 assists and had 11 players that scored eight or more points. Trey Kelley was lights-out from deep, scoring his team high 24 points exclusively on three pointers, connecting on 8 of his 10 attempts. Josh Livingston nearly tore the rim off with two highlight reel dunks and added two three pointers and 6 rebounds on his way to 16 points, while Sarju Patel (15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) and Clayton Hughes (15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) each knocked down three 3-pointers in the win.

Lewis Djonkam was a force all over the court, scoring 15 points on just 9 shots while pulling down 7 rebounds and securing 5 steals. Justin Brown added 10 points and 4 rebounds and 3 assists while also swatting away two shots.

Hargrave also featured three players that logged double-doubles in the rout with Braxton Beverly (12 points, 4 3-pointers, 11 assists, 3 rebounds), Jordan McKenzie (12 points, 4 3-pointers, 10 assists, 7 rebounds, 4 steals) and Naji Marshall (14 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals) all recording monster games.

With the scoring outburst, the Tigers are now averaging 115.1 points per game. That mark places the Tigers second in the country in scoring across all NBA teams, all NCAA Division 1 and Division 2 teams and all other high school teams. They trail only the Golden State Warriors (118.1 points per game). The win also pushes Hargrave’s record to 35-1, their winning streak to 21 games overall and their home winning streak to 72 games.

The Tigers will be back in action Friday for the annual Scharlie Dillon benefit game. Hargrave will take on Swish Academy with a 7:30 tip-off scheduled as the featured game of the 3 game event.
