Playing in front of great crowds both days of the event, the #5 ranked Tigers eclipsed 100 straight wins at home with their triumph over #8 ranked Mt. Zion (MD). Over the course of the weekend, the event, featuring 4 nationally ranked teams, attracted more than 35 NCAA Division 1 coaches and 4 scouting services. Game recaps are below:

FRIDAY

#12 Fork Union 82, Spire Institute 78

Despite a furious comeback bid by Spire late in the game, Fork Union emerged victorious in the opening game of the event. Fork Union was led by Caleb Mauldin (25 points) and David Ware (10 points). Marcus Gibbs spearheaded the comeback effort for Spire, scoring 25 of his game high 35 points in the second half.

Hargrave jumped all over the visiting Warriors from the tip-off, holding Mt. Zion to just 7 points in the game’s first 9 minutes. They never looked back, pushing an 18 point halftime lead to as many as 43 during the second half before walking away with a 37 points victory. This win was a milestone victory for Hargrave, as it marked their 100th straight home victory, with their last home loss coming January 25th, 2014. Hargrave was led by Kris Gardner’s 19 points, with Tyson Jackson (18 points, 11 rebounds), Jeremiah Davenport (15 points) and Giovanni Santiago (13 points) and Jayson Robinson (10 points) all joining in double-figures. Marcus Gibbs (18 points) paced Spire again, with Shamar Dillard contributing 15 points in the loss.
