The Tigers played their season finale at Waynesboro, VA against the Caissons of Fishburne Military School. From the opening kickoff, the Tigers took the lead and never looked back to the 7-2 rout with their rivals.
In the opening minute of the game, junior left forward Chad Demarest (Naples, FL) found senior midfielder Youssef Abouzied (Cairo, Egypt) for an early 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, the Tigers struck again as it was Abouzied finding fellow senior midfielder Ebrahim Al-Aghbari (Yemen) in the 6th minute. Abouzied would then put away his second goal of the game in the 8th minute unassisted for a 3-0 lead. Then in the 28th minute off a set piece corner kick routine, Al-Aghbari perfectly sets up junior Center Forward Paul Hughes (Danville, VA) to head in their fourth goal of the game.
“It was really good to see from start to finish us compete for 80 minutes,” stated Head Coach Jeremy Eubank. “A lot of the things that we’ve been working on all season finally came together, and it showed in today’s result.”
The Tigers opened the scoring in the second half in the 62nd minute with Demarest finishing off a through ball from Hughes to make it 5-1 Tigers. Four minutes later, Demarest would bag his second goal of the game as Abouzied found him on a perfectly placed ball over the backline for the 6-2 lead. Abouzied closed out the game with his third goal of the game (hat trick), off a well placed through ball from Al-Aghbari for the final 7-2 Tiger win.
“This was a good group of kids to coach, and I am very proud of all that we have accomplished this year,” stated Eubank. “We have a strong nucleus coming back next year, and I am looking forward to next season.”
