In the midst of Hargrave’s annual Parents Weekend, the Tigers took the pitch against VIC opponent, Holy Cross, and came away with a 4-1 victory. The win boosted the Tigers to 2-11-2 on the season.

Prior to the match, Coach Eubank, families, friends, and teammates honored the 11 members of the 2020 senior class and used the momentum of the pre-game ceremony to make the most of their opportunities during the match. Following an early Holy Cross goal, the Tigers got on the board in the 23rd minute as junior, Julio Galindo, fired in a cross from fellow junior, Xiao ZhengNan which evened up the score. With halftime drawing near, senior, Daniel Pierce, found junior, Nathan Higdon, streaking down the wing. Higdon received the pass and did the rest, putting the ball in the back of the net and thus giving Hargrave a 2-1 lead heading into the break.

“We have put together a string of good performances in the last few weeks,” said Head Coach, Jeremy Eubank. “This all accumulated today as we were able to capitalize on the scoring chances we were given.”

In the second half, the Tigers came out firing on all cylinders as they scored two goals in the opening eight minutes. Senior, Nathan Anderson, made a fifty yard run as he weaved in and out of five defenders to put the Tigers up 3-1 in the 42nd minute. Five minutes later, Galindo netted his second goal of the match as he finished off another cross from Xiao ZhengNan, pushing the Hargrave lead to 4-1, which remained the case throughout the end of the match. Freshman goalkeeper, Max Eskew, recorded five saves in the win.

“These guys played extremely well in all facets of the game,” stated Eubank. “Defensively, passing, communicating, finishing and playing as a team. It all came together today and it was a great way to send this senior group out!”

The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, October 16th, as they take on Covenant School. The match is set to begin at 4:30 PM from Simpson Parade Field.
