Tigers Tame Eagles

In a match-up of teams that were neck-and-neck in the state rankings, Hargrave made a definitive statement. Playing in front of a solid crowd that would only grow as the game progressed, the game had a post season vibe.
While the game started off tight, Hargrave was able to take an 11 point advantage into halftime, a lead that would balloon to 24 by the end of the third quarter. Once again, Hargrave’s defense was the big story. The Tigers pestered the Eagles relentlessly to the tune of 19 steals and 12 deflections.
Offensively, it was the tale of two halves for the Tigers individually. Robert Tubbs (6 assists) carried the load in the first half, scoring 16 of his 20 points before the break. Jason Fields on the other hand, used a 12 point third quarter to help reach his game-high 24 points. Fields was also a catalyst on defense, using deflections and steals to lead to his patented high flying slams in transition. Tyler Chisholm also found his way iinto double digits in scoring, contributing 11 points. Keon McIntosh was a foce on the glass all night, collecting 12 rebounds.
Hargrave will look to continue their winning ways against a talented Blue Ridge squad on Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00PM in the Walter Davis Gymnasium.
