Tiger’s tough play almost downs EC Glass

Coach Joe Moran

Last night the JV Basketball team traveled to Lynchburg to take on EC Glass, always a tough public school matchup. Glass came out hitting a lot of shots and scores 28 points in the first quarter. We were only down by 12 having played a pretty good quarter ourselves. We had a couple of key guys get into foul trouble in the second quarter, but our subs did a great job and we were down by 11 an the half.

Glass seem to be energized out of the break and took the lead to 20 halfway through the third. Even with three of our guys having four fouls, they responded like champions and cut the lead to 8 just before the start of the fourth. Glass took the lead back to 15 early in the fourth and I thought it was slipping away, but once again our guys wouldn’t quit. Over the next four minutes they cut the lead to two and had the possession with 8 seconds left.

I wish I could tell you it was a miracle finish, but it wasn’t. I turnover, a foul, two free throws later and we ran out of time and came up short 73-69. Cadet Peluso had an outstanding game leading the scoring with 28 points. Cadet Drakeford added 15 points with a great defensive game as well. Cadets Rogers, Saliu, and Wheeler were also a very important part of the comeback effort. Looking forward to a great season and building off two really tough road games.
