USA Swimming vs. Carter Center Aquatics (CCA) Duel Meet

Hargrave Aquatics dueled local USA Swimming rival Carter Center Aquatics (CCA) in a home meet on Friday, November 4, 2005. Both teams enjoyed great racing, hospitality and fun during the meet.

Having almost a 2-to-1 advantage over Hargrave, CCA won the meet despite several great performances by Hargrave swimmers. CCA won the girl’s events earning 176 points to Hargrave’s 60. In the boy’s events, Hargrave faired better. CCA earned 166 points to Hargrave’s 100 points. CCA would win 242 to 160 overall. Both teams had fun, however.

“Overall, the team preformed above expectations,” said Hargrave Coach William Wiebking. “They had numbers. We had speed. But, we all had fun.”

26 Hargrave Aquatics swimmers competed in the meet. Additionally, the team recorded eleven first place finishes, eight second place finishes and five third place finishes.

Standout performances were recorded by: Jordan Adams, age 11 of Martinsville, taking first in both the 12&Under 100y Freestyle, 1:11.15, and 100y Breaststroke, 1:31.46; Katheryn Thompson, age 12 of Chatham, taking first in the 12&Under 50y Freestyle, 33.35, and earning her first 11-12 ‘B’ qualifying time; Ally Cavedo, age 9 of Danville, for earning her first ‘B’ qualifying time in the 100y Freestyle, 1:28.82; Christopher Thompson, age 9 of Chatham, for earning his first ‘B’ qualifying time in the 50y Freestyle, 39.59; and six year old Andrew Abbott, of Republican Grove, for earning a 10&Under ‘B’ qualifying time in the 50y Backstroke, 47.50.
