USA Swimming vs. Senior Championship (15&Older)

The Hargrave Aquatics swimming team competed this weekend at the 2005 VSI Long Course Senior State Championship. The men’s team was lead by Andrew Hetzner, who finished fourth overall in the high point ranking. This is quite accomplishment. The overall high point winner is a current member of the US national team. The second place finisher is a NCAA All-American swimmer from Auburn University. They were followed by Patrick Zeltman and than Andrew Hetzner, respectively.

Andrew took 2nd place in the 400 Freestyle, 3rd place in the 200 Backstroke, 5th place in the 200 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke, and 12th place in the 100 Butterfly. Everyone swam extremely well and I was proud of his or her performances.

\This is the first time Hargrave has taken a larger team to this meet, which is the state’s top meet for its senior swimmers. The Hargrave men’s team finished 10th in the men’s category, and the team finished 12th place overall. The continued growth of the team is quickly positioning Hargrave as one of the state’s premier programs. Congrats to everyone who swam and swam well. The team is looking at a very bright future with 13 more swimmers expected to join the program in the fall.

Thanks for everyone’s time.
