Seven Hargrave Aquatics members participated in the team’s first foray to Shelby, North Carolina. They swam fast and had fun, despite the thunderstorm and rain Sunday morning. Swimming fast in rain was a new experience for everyone.
On Friday, Rachel Patterson, age 7, managed to claim second in girl’s high point for the special 8&Under events held that evening. She swam four 50 meter swims in the Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle. Jarre Williams also competed in and did extremely well in this class.
Hannah Patterson and Sara Williams also claimed a lot of personal best times in the 10&Under division. Sara did very well in butterfly. Hannah left her mark in breaststroke.
11-12 year old swimmers Jennifer Murphy, Sarah Murphy and Jason Reese competed well in their age groups. Jennifer captured second place in the girl’s 100m breaststroke. She also earned a Virginia Age Group cut.
The group also had time for bowling Saturday afternoon. Kristin Reese, age 14 Jason’s sister, won the first round with a score of 111, while Sara Williams, age 9, won the second round with a score of 94.
