USA Swimming vs. SWAT B+ Meet

3rd Place with 1567 points.

This weekend the Hargrave Aquatics swim team traveled to Radford VA to compete against 16 other swim teams from the area. The meet would last three days over 5 session of swimming. Hargrave had the goal of finishing third in this competition. This goal was not an easy as the team was not as large nor did it have nearly the same amount of scoring chances as five other teams in the meet. In fact Hargrave was the fifth largest team in the meet and had a 100 less scoring chance than the next biggest team. The goal was set and unchanging as the meet start. The team was told time and time again every swim had to count and score for them to have a shot at reaching their goal. The team swam extremely well through the first 4 session of the meet. As a result of all this hard swimming the team was still in fifth place some 215 points out of third. The team met and one goal one purpose, finish third. That last session show the best swimming of the meet and outstanding time drops. When it was all over the had got the two teams ahead of them and finished in third place by 7 points. The team was lead by Andrew Hetzner who scored 124 points. Andrew had two first place victories, in the 500 free and 200 back. He was also apart of the 200 free relay team that won and just misses the High school All-American time by .5 seconds. Andrew had 4 seconds and one third two go with his two first. Andrew was followed closely in scoring by Jacob Dole. Jacob also won two events. Jacob won the 50 free and 100 back. Jacob scored 122 points and broke 5 team records for his age group. These team records consist of the 50 Back, 100 Back, 200 Back, 200 Free and 200 IM. Mike Miller. Patrick Martelli, and Graham Wooten also scored in an event that they swam and were apart of the 200 free Relay with Andrew Hetzner. Lauren Hines also won two events, these victories were in the 50 Free and 100 Back. Lauren also had 2 seconds and 1 third and a fourth place finish.
