The Varsity baseball team won their first round conference tournament game over North Cross Tuesday afternoon 14-8. Hargrave got hits from eight of nine starters, used a lot of determination, and prevailed in what was a shaky start to take care of the Raiders of North Cross. North Cross jumped out early on Hargrave scoring 3 runs in the first inning, 2 more in the second to take a 5-1 lead before Hargrave’s bats got HOT. Hargrave scored five runs in the 3rd inning, and 6 runs in the 4th inning to regain the lead and take complete control of the game. Hargrave added a run in the 5th and 6th innings before shutting the door down on North Cross in the 7th. Michael Laforgia, Mark Loving, Jim Woods, Logan Barker, and Riggs Jordan had two hits each for Hargrave. Darrell Smith, Shelby Wheeler, and Devin Oliver all contributed with one hit each. Logan Barker, Mark Loving, and Riggs Jordan each lead the way with 2 RBI’s each.
With the win, the Tiigers will travel to Covenant Thursday for a 4 PM game and a chance to make it to the conference championship game which will be held Friday at Ferrum College!
