Varsity Baseball Gains Second Win

Brett Thomas

The Hargrave varsity baseball team won its second consecutive game by the run rule 10-0 over Oak Ridge to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Cadets Spence Walker and Matt Harris combined to throw a no-hitter, the first from Hargrave in over five years. Hargrave took advantage of some early miscues by Oak Ridge to jump on the board and score 8 runs in the first inning and 2 more in the third. Walker pitched three innings allowing no hits, walking one batter while stricking out six of Oak Ridge batters. Harris threw the last two innings, allowing no hits, walking one batter and striking out three Oak Ridge batters.
At the plate, Harris was 1-2 with a walk and a run scored, Mack Long went 2-2 with two runs scored and a walk, and yesterdays Player of The Game Cadet Nick Paul went 2-2 with two runs scored, and three runs batted in.

Thank all of you for coming out to support the guys yesterday in their first home contest of the season, and we look forward to having all of you back out to the ball park Monday as your tigers take on Roanoke Catholic at 4:30 pm. Please congratulate Walker and Harris on there no hitter, something that does not happen to often, and all of the other guys on their big win.
