Varsity Baseball Puts up a Great Effort Against North Cross.

Joe Adams

The Tigers took the diamond yesterday to compete vs conference rival North Cross.  The weather was tremendous, and conditions on the field were prime for a good baseball game.  North Cross was the first team to be at bat and they took advantage of the first inning scoring 2 runs.  The Tigers defense snuffed them out in the second inning but they scored 3 more runs in the 3rd to make the score 5-0. Hargraves bats woke up in the bottom of the 4th as the tigers racked up 2 runs to make the score 5-2.  Well North Cross scored again in the top of the 5th inning to increase it lead to 6-2. The Hargrave offense answered with 2 more runs in the bottom of the 5th to make it 6-4.  North Cross scored 1 in the top of 6th to make it 7-4.  The Tigers had a chance to score more runs in the bottom of the 6th but fell short and North Cross shut the door by scoring 3 more runs in the top of the 7th to make it 10-4 and the final score. The Tiger record for the season is  6-5 as they travel to take on a strong Covenant team this Thursday in Charlottesville.
