Varsity Baseball Wins Big Against Blue Ridge

Brett Thomas

The Varsity baseball team hosted conference opponent Blue Ridge yesterday and won big with a final score of 21-0. Hargrave jumped on the board in the first inning scoring 3 runs and never looked back. The team scored in every inning until the game was halted in the 5th due to the mercy rule. Hargrave was lead offensively by Logan Barker who continued his hot hitting for the season, going 3-3 with two singles, and his fourth home run of the season. This leveled up his state lead in RBI’s to 40 on the season. Riggs Jordan also had a big offensive day going 2-3 with two doubles, scoring 4 times, and driving in 2 RBI’s. Every player in Hargrave’s lineup got at least one hit and each scored a run or more in the game. Hargarve got 3 runs in the first inning, added 4 in the second, 13 in the 3rd inning, and capping off the fourth with 1 more before the game was called. Landis Gee got the nod on the mound going three strong innings only allowing 1 hit while striking out 3 Blue Ridge batters. Brad Markiewicz had a good day at the plate driving in 3 runs on 1 big hit. Brad relieved Landis on the mound to finish the game for the final two innings, striking out 4 and only allowing 1 hit.

The Tigers will finish out the regular season Friday, May 6, against Miller at Hargrave at 4:30 PM. If the inclement weather continues and Friday’s game gets cancelled, the game will be moved to Saturday afternoon.
