Hargrave 68 – Holy Cross 57 in OT
Hargrave returned to the win column with a victory over the Gaels of Holy Cross. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead behind 10 first quarter points by Nick Barr, ending the first up 14-11. The Gaels played tough defense in the second quarter to gain the lead at half-time, 25-21.
The Tigers continued to struggle in the third quarter, watching as Holy Cross took an 11 point lead. The Gaels stretched the lead to its largest extent, two minutes into the forth quarter, 46-31. Although down big, the Tigers were not out. A furious fourth quarter rally was sparked by the Tiger defense. Josh Rudolph led the comeback, scoring 10 points in the last period. Regulation ended 50-50 after both teams missed last second shots.
Momentum was on Hargrave’s side during overtime. Holy Cross scored the first point in the extra period, then the Tigers scored the next nine, taking a commanding lead. Clutch shooting from Grant Chandler, eight overtime points from Karson Mott, and intense team defense set the stage for a 68-57 overtime win.
