The Tigers were able to pull out a hard fought victory over the Tornandos of Timberlake 68-61. After trailing most of the first half, the Tigers were able to get within three points after three quarters of play. This was brought on by the excellent play of the bench (non-starters), who were led by Clarence Conrad (14 pts. 4-5 3pts.) and Jay Edosowan (7 pts. and 9 rebs.). Terry Teal and Jarod Leaper also contributed to this much needed burst of energy. Renard Fields (16 pts., 10 rebs.) also came off the bench to have a huge night on both ends of the court for the Tigers. Starters Rashad Smith (12 pts, 3 assist, 4 steals), DeAngelo Spruill ( 11 pts., 6 assist, 2 steals) and Jacob Floyd (6 pts., 7 rebs., 2 steals) also had solid games. Overall, the entire team showed a lot of heart and pulled it together when they needed to. Great effort by all of the players. With the win the Tigers record improves to 8-4 overall and 8-3 in conference play. Hargrave will return to action on Monday, February 16th, when they will host Roanoke Valley Christian School. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm. Note – This game was originally scheduled to be played on January 27th, but because of snow was rescheduled.
