Tuesday January 23rd

Hargrave Military Academy 60
North Cross School 55

In a rematch of last year’s VIC Division 2 Conference Tournament Championship game, many things had changed for both teams except one thing: the competitive fire found in all rivalry games was evident from the opening tip and stayed at a high level throughout the entire game. After a sloppy start from both teams, Hargrave led 7-6 after the first quarter, North Cross turned up the defensively pressure and took a four point lead into halftime. Behind a couple of deep threes from Senior Maurice Wilcox and some great defensive intensity, the Tigers turned their fortunes around in the third quarter as they stormed back to take a two point lead heading into the final stanza. The team defensive effort continued throughout and Hargrave was able to secure a much needed 60-55 road victory in Roanoke.

Notable Performances Included:
Seneca Louis ’18–14 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists
Cam McNeil ’18–10 points, 14 rebounds

Friday January 26th

Hargrave Military Academy 74
Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School 62

The Tigers were able to ride a great defensive start, coupled with some hot shooting, to a wide halftime margin as they went over to Virginia Beach to face a highly ranked VISAA Division 1 opponent in Bishop Sullivan. Hargrave used a 28-9 advantage in the second quarter to open up a twenty point halftime lead. Bishop Sullivan got hot in the third quarter and was able to cut the Tigers lead to just five points before a group effort, led by Hargrave’s upperclassmen, pushed the lead back to double figures where it remained until the final buzzer as Hargrave earned the 74-62 victory.

Notable Performances Included:
Seneca Louis ’18–22 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists
Korbin Spencer ’19–15 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals

Saturday January 27th

Hargrave Military Academy 82
Norfolk Collegiate 76

In yet another back-to-back game situation, the Tigers fifth such situation this season, Hargrave was able to emerge victorious despite tired legs and careless turnovers. Norfolk Collegiate opened up an early lead but Hargrave was able to weather the storm and head into halftime with a 40-38 advantage. Hargrave used their defensive intensity and a pair of big time dunks by Seneca Louis to shift the momentum and secure a thirteen point lead heading into the final quarter. After a back and forth game, the Tigers were able to pull out the 82-76 victory.
