Varsity Lacrosse Competes at the Annual Dan Nolan Lacrosse Tournament

Matt Brawn

The Varsity Lacrosse team took part in the Annual Dan Nolan Lacrosse Tournament at Christchurch School over the weekend.

Game #1 HMA vs. Christchurch (Score: HMA 6  CCS: 4)
The tournament was action packed and full of excellent competition. The Tigers opened the tournament against the Seahorses of Christchurch in the first round. Christchurch jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead over HMA, however, the tigers came roaring back in the second quarter of play to tie the game. The game would go back and forth as each team traded scoring opportunities and defensive stands. As the time ran down in the final quarter of play, the Tigers held a 6-4 lead which by game’s end would be enough to see the Tigers through to the Championship Game against Hampton Roads Academy.

Game #2 HMA vs. HRA (Score: HMA 4  HRA 6)
The championship game of the Dan Nolan Memorial Tournament was a great one! Both teams put it all out on the field as every player who saw time was completely out of gas by the game’s end. The Tigers of HMA and Navigators of HRA were of equal talent and made for a wonderful game. Each team traded goals throughout. At the half, the Navigators held a slim 3-2 lead over the Tigers. At the end of 3 quarters of play, the game was tied 4-4 and would stay that way until a late penalty by the Tigers gave HRA the opportunity they were looking for to score. HRA would net one more late goal as the Tigers could not make up the difference before the end of regulation.

The Varsity Lacrosse Team is now 5-2 on the season.

The Tigers will take the field this afternoon to host military rival Fishburne at 4:30.
