The Varsity Lacrosse team traveled to Richmond Saturday in a Military Match-up against the Cadets of Benedictine. The Tigers entered the game with a 3-0 record this season against military school opponents and set on making it a clean sweep of for for the 2015-2015 season.
Early in the first half of play the Tigers of Hargrave gave a three goal spot to Benedictine as they were still shaking off the bus legs, however Hargrave would rally back and begin pushing the Benedictine defense toward it’s limits. The two teams would trade goals during the first half of play which found both teams even at 9-9 at halftime.
The second half of play began much like the first two with team matching goals for much of the time. Late in the third and through the fourth the Hargrave would get separation from the Cadets of Benedictine and take the lead 13-10 a extend it through the end of the fourth quarter with a final score of 18-16.
The Tigers found scoring from Cadets Chris Brunetti (7 Goals, 1 Assist), Russell Ferguson (5 Goals, 1 Asssit), Connor Rogers ( 1 Goal, 3 Assist), Chandler O’Connor ( 2 Goals) and Justin Malinow (3 Goals, 1 Assist). Senior Attack Cadet Brunetti achieved a large milestone in his high school career as he broke the Single Season Scoring Record (61 Goals) and Career Points Record (142 pts) previously help by Zach Lepchitz.
With the Victory the Tigers finish the Varsity Season with a 4-0 Military School Record, 5-8 Regular Season Record and a 2-5 VIC Record.
