Varsity Lacrosse vs. Roanoke Catholic

Hargrave 5 – Roanoke Catholic 16

The Varsity Lacrosse Team played host to Roanoke Catholic Tuesday night after returning from spring break. In a contest that had two VIC opponents squaring off against one another the game was bound to have lots of top lacrosse.

The Tigers would open the scoring of the game with a first quarter goal by Senior Reeves Hollar on a feeding pass from Junior Michael Princivil. The Tigers of Hargrave and the Celtics of Roanoke Catholic would play to a 1-1 draw at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter of play the tigers found themselves trailing in the goal column due to several mental errors on the defensive side of the ball. Attack Maxx Baldino would aid in the offensive effort for the tigers by sticking a pair of goals in the later stages of the game with assist coming from Senior J.C. Shelton. The Tigers defensive struggles continued as many missed coverage’s lead to easy 1 on 0 goals for the Celtics.

The second half saw a much more disciplined Tigers defense which in return shut down Roanoke Catholics offense to only 3 goals in the final two quarters of play. Tigers goals late in the game would come from Senior J.C. Shelton and Senior Maxx Baldino with Michael Princivil and Maxx Baldino Getting credit for and assist each.

Notable performances for the tigers not figuring in to the major scoring count were Reeves Hollar at the midfield wining 53% of his face-offs and Senior Goalie Stefan Taylor who would record 12 saves on the night.

The Tigers Travel to Salem Tomorrow to take on South County Lacrosse Club with a game time of 5:30.
