Hargrave 14 – Steward 8
The Varsity Lacrosse Team took to Dyre Field for their second contest of the season, this time in conference play against the Steward School Spartans. It was a great display of Hargrave Lacrosse from the first face-off as the tigers capitalized on an early turnover allowing for freshmen attacker Jarell Brand to notch the first tally of the game. Assist on the first goal would come from Junior Patrick Masterman and Junior Michael Princivil. The Tigers would continue to add to an early lead with a flurry of goals from J.C. Shelton who totaled 6 goals in the first half and a single goal by Michael Princivil.
The second half opened with a well balanced standoff between the Tigers of Hargrave and the Spartans of Steward. The Tigers would jump to a 12-4 lead at the end of the third quarter as team members Reeves Hollar, Michael Princivil and J.C. Shelton would all add goals for the Tigers. The final quarter of play would see many substitutions from the bench and only a 2 spot by the Tigers to bring their total to 14 goals on the night. Fourth quarter goals would be had by JC Shelton and Michael Princivil.
Notable Performances on the defensive end of the field where Senior Goalie Stefan Taylor who rerecorded 17 saves on the night and LSM Andrew Heiny who made several key plays to squash multiple offensive attempts by the Spartans.
The Tigers will host Roanoke Catholic on March 31st @ 4:00 in their next Conference Match-up.
