Varsity Soccer Defeat Southwest VA Homeschool

Jeremy Eubank

The Tigers traveled to Roanoke on Friday to face Southwest VA Home School looking to avenge their early season loss. In a tight contest from beginning to end, the Tigers were able to pull out a 1-0 win.

The lone goal of the game came from senior forward Youssef Abouzied (Cairo, Egypt) as he was founded by junior midfielder Gabriel Powers (Roswell, Georgia) in the 24th minute. “It was a great find by Gabriel and a very easy finish for Youssef as he was wide open,” stated Head Coach Jeremy Eubank. “It was great for us to be able to get on the board and sustain a lead throughout.”

In the net, junior goalkeeper John Seepe (Danville, VA) collected 7 saves on the night for the Tigers. In front of him was a back line of seniors Jordan Dunn (Charlotte, NC), Nicholas Duran (Oakton, VA), Patrick Lord (Nashville, TN), junior Hayden Everett (Danville, VA), and 8th grader Jonathan Acree (Goldsboro, NC).

“It was good to see that these guys hard work and their efforts paid off,” stated Eubank. “With the amount of injuries we had these guys showed a lot of grit to pull out this win.”

The Tigers will return to the pitch on Monday as they travel to Roanoke to take on North Cross at 4:30 PM.
