Varsity Soccer Falls to FUMA

Assistant AD
The Hargrave Tigers set out to beat the Fork Union Military Academy Blue Devils. This first home game the Tigers had played in 2 weeks provided a good setting with a riotous crowd, and team full of players ready to play hard. The first half saw lots of midfield play, and the Tigers dominated the possession of the game, and won many of the small 1v1 battles that make up the game of soccer. Playing well together, the Tigers scored the first two goals of the game, only to be matched and surpassed by the Blue Devils in the second half.
The game continued into halftime after a scrum in front of the Blue Devils’ goal, and tempers ran high. The Tigers came out in the second half ready to battle, and this resulted in a few key players losing their cool. After a few cards were handed out, the Tigers’ came up short with a loss of 4-2 at the end of the second half.
Despite the results of the past two weeks worth of games, the Hargrave Tigers are coming together more than any other team that the coaches have seen together before. Their progression in practice is translated into games frequently, habits, and attitudes are changing. The players see it and the spectators see the passion that the 2012 Hargrave Tigers play with together.
