Varsity Soccer Picks up win to start Military Week

With just a lazy Sunday off between the tough Homecoming loss to Virginia Episcopal School the Oak Ridge Military Academy Eagles came to Chatham with revenge on their mind having lost to Hargrave a few weeks earlier

Once we got settled down, the first half was dominated by the Tigers who began shooting the ball from all angles. Khail McCartney ‘27 Nassau, Bahamas found the back of the net to get things started. A belated birthday present for him.

At the Eagles end of the field shots were flying all over the place from our tenacious attack. HMA went into the locker room up 4-0 at half time.

The defense held tight as our back line made runs on corners and long throw-ins. W. Sackett ‘27, Wellington, Fl  played a great game with many tough tackles. Kelsten Hudson, senior captain, Danville Va, was the most relaxed he’s been all season and was firing away at will from midfield .

A solid game from up and coming local 8th grader X. Ehrhardt, Danville Va, stepping up and filling in where he was needed. T. Baker ‘25 Farwaniya-Ishbilya, Kuwait, also had solid minutes as a midfielder making some tough tackles.

The team was very patient that day and did not chase the game. Nice passing and proper communication led to 2 goals each by Senior Captain Keylen Hudson, Danville Va and Sophomore P. Fowlkes, Chatham Va. Senior Keeper J. Classen, McLean Va, had 3 saves.

Final Score of the contest was HMA 5 OAK RIDGE MILITARY ACADEMY 0
