Hargrave 2 – Fork Union 2
On a cool, drizzly afternoon in Chatham, the Tigers played a great game, but could not find the back of the net to gain the edge. It was a very evenly played game with a slight edge to the Tigers; 11 to 10 shots on goal and 7-5 corner kicks, both with the Tigers having some great chances to score.
In the first half, the Tigers took advantage of a penalty kick with Junior Ben Luther putting the ball in the back of the net for his first score of the season, finally. About twenty minutes later, Luther tallied his second goal of the game with a great shot from about 15 yards out. The hard work of Luther allowed the Tigers to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The second half, the FUMA Blue Devils put the pressure on the Tiger defense for 25 minutes and placed 2 goals with their 7 second half shots to even the score. Even though the Tigers pushed the ball forward for the last 15 minutes of the contest, they could not find the goal needed to seal a Tiger victory. The Tigers played very hard and worked together as a team while stringing together some great passes. The Tigers will rest up over the weekend and come out rested for the Tuesday game with VES for our next home game.
