Hargrave 4 – Miller 2
The Tiger Varsity soccer squad earned a tough win at host Miller School on Tuesday afternoon. On a lovely day, the Tigers came to play and gave a great effort.
The Tigers outshot Miller 22 to 5 and had the edge on corner kicks also, 8 to 2. Austin Nolen started the scoring with a beautiful looping shot that caught the upper back net for the early 1-0 lead. Mohamed Abouzied scored the second goal with a blast from the middle to make it 2-0. The Tigers had a small lapse and allowed the Miller team to score a goal before the half.
In the second half, the Tigers continued to ditate play on the pitch and were able to get off some great shots that just missed the goal or hit the sideposts. Allen Hobbs was in the right spot to score the third goal of the afternoon with a nice shot to the low side corner. The Tigers were able to possess the ball in the middle with great individual moves from Tian Yang as he made a great pass and assist to Yassin Asfour who finished the scoring for the Tigers for the final 4-2 margin of victory. The defense under the direction of Zach Foster, Nathan Amick and Ben Luther did a lovely job of winning many challenges to preserve the win. It was a great team effort enjoyed by all.
