Varsity Soccer vs. Roanoke Catholic

Hargrave 5 – Roanoke 0

The HMA Tigers were able to even their record to 1-1 on the season with a nice 5-0 win against Roanoke Catholic on a lovely sunny afternoon in the Chatham community.

The Tigers came out and played well together as a team, even though they did not score in the first half of action. All the scoring started off with some nice passing and good finishes by John Wilkes Barber on the first two goals, great individual skills and effort by Yassin Asfour on the next two goals and then Allen Hobbs was able to get in on the scoring with the last score by being in the right place at the right time.

It was a great team effort with great defensive play by Bradley Faught in the goal for a nice shutout. Also in the backfield, Zach Foster and Nathan Amick and Michael Schantz led the defensive effort. In the midfield, there was great effort both ways by Ben Luther, Tian Yang, John Barber, Austin Nolen, and Alex Pritchard. Everyone saw some playing time to get ready for the next 3 away games.

The HMA Tigers take to the road on Saturday to head up to Blue Ridge School, outside of Charlottesville for a 4 PM game. Thanks for your support both on and off the field.
