Hargrave 2 – Covenant 4
Hargrave fell to Covenant in penalty kicks 2-4, after a 0-0 result through regulation time and overtime. It was a tough one for the guys as they were the better team on the field; we did not play as great as we can (and the guys know that), but still were the better team. We created more chances than our opponent, but simply could not finish. The defense played great to hold the opponent scoreless, and really only gave up one good scoring opportunity that went wide of the goal.
We finish the season at 11-4-2, and a second place finish in the VIC Southern Division. We saw five overtime games this season including the Covenant game. Benedictine handed us our worst loss at 7-0, but our other three losses came by a goal each, LCA 1-0 and Holy Cross 2-1 in OT, and then the pk round against Covenant. We finished the season scoring 75 goals while allowing only 22. Mike Badolato led all players in Goals with 18, and in Points with 48; he was tied for first in assists with 12 along with Josh Splinter. Goalkeeper Nathan Bloom played superbly in net allowing 20 goals in 15 games played; he averaged 8 saves a match and 1.3 goals allowed per match. Backup keeper Brian Sigmon allowed the other 2 goals in 3 games played good for 6 saves per match and 0.6 goals allowed.
