Varsity Soccer vs. VIC Semi-finals: Timberlake Christian

The Hargrave Tigers secured their place in the VIC Championship Game behind a five goal outburst against Timberlake Christian during semi-final play.

The Tigers led by Captains Nick Barr, Josh Splinter, Scott Dinius and Senior Tony Cain were able to control most the offensive production on their way to outshooting their opponent 23-4. Barr, Splinter, Cain, and Dinius each combined for three goals and six assists in the match making sure of their chance to play for the Championship on Saturday. Barr scored his 20th goal of the season for the Tigers as he added their first 11 minutes into the match from a Cain assist. Ten minutes later Cain added a second for the Tigers with helpers from junior Austin Koeneman and the secondary assist from Dinius. Sophomore forward Edwin Choi recorded the Tigers third seven minutes later with the assists from co-forward Dong Eun and Splinter recording his first of two assists on the day. Four minutes from time Cain once again helped put the Tigers on the scoresheet as he assisted a goal from Eun along with defender Andrew Shin who was also credited with the assist.

With the second half now underway the Tigers extended their lead further after 13 minutes of play as Dinius finished the scoring for the Tigers with assists from Barr and Splinter. The Tigers took the 5-0 advantage to the closing whistle. Goalkeeper Nathan Bloom, once again led by outstanding defensive performances, was forced into making only 3 saves.
