The Hargrave Tigers (1-1) bounced back after a season opening loss to Liberty Christian with an 8-0 win over Westover Christian on Friday in Danville, VA. Eight different Tigers recorded goals on the afternoon as Hargrave ran off 46 shots in the game.

The offensive output from the Tigers started early entering each half as they tallied four goals for each period. The first few minutes of the game saw the Tigers threaten early and often. Dinius opened the scoring at the 3:07 mark from an Eun and Choi combination down the right flank that found Dinius at the top of the Westover penalty box. Choi would then make it a 2-0 advantage at the 5:29 mark as Dinius returned the helper along with the assistance of Yang.

With 25 first half shots the Tigers expected a larger output of goals, but with numerous missed shots over and wide of the net and nine saves from Westover goalkeeper Jacob Beach the Tigers were unable to find their third through another 32 minutes of play. 38:17 into the first half Hargrave’s Hwang finally found the net for the Tigers once again from a Koeneman and Mattimore helper. Koeneman, a minute later, then netted Hargrave’s fourth at 39:23 just before the whistle with the help of Yang and Field.

Eleven minutes into the second half the Tigers would find their fifth goal of the match from a Koeneman corner kick that found a near post run from Yang redirected into the far post netting. Then at the 57:14 mark Newman would give Tigers their fifth after picking up a loose ball on the rigth side of the Westover penalty box with a powerful shot into the bottom left corner. Less than eight minutes later Seo would tally the Tiger’s seventh from a Robert’s cross from the left flank at 64:42. Mattimore would finish off the scoring for the Tigers at 72:00 with a break-away opportunity from a Newman assist.
