Varsity Soccer vs. Westover Christian Academy

The Tigers were able to capitalize early on their scoring opportunities against Westover Christian on their way to a 9-1 finish against the Bulldogs.

With a flurry of goals the Tigers found themselves in front 5-0 within the first 20 minutes of the contest. Forward Tumi Demuren started the scoring early on for Tigers by netting two goals within a minute of one another assisted by Nate Anglin and Mike Badolato respectively. Midfielder Tony Cain followed up less than a minute later, on another Badolato assist, with a goal of his own to put the tigers up 3-0 within the first six minutes of the match. Six minutes later in the 12th minute of play Captians Scott Dinius and Josh Splinter would link up for the Tigers fourth from a corner from Splinter which found its way to Dinius 18 yards out for the first-time strike. Less than five minutes later Badolato would add his first of two goals on the day on Splinter’s second assist of the match.

The Bulldogs would sneak one in on the Tigers in the 31st minute of play, but the Tigers would answer back just before the half-time whistle on Splinter’s third assist on the day when he would hook up again with Badolato to put the Tigers up 6-1 at the half.

At the start of the second half Demuren would come out again with the quick finishing touch adding his third goal of the game three minutes in. Badolato and Dong Myung Eun were credited with the assists on the Demuren goal. Eun would then strike for his first goal of the match in the 56th minute from a Dinius assist. Then two minutes later Cain would add his second of the match from Badolato’s fourth assist on the day completing the scoring for the Tigers and extending their lead to 9-1.

Captain Nate Anglin led the way for the Tigers in the back defensively along with very strong showings from Adam Crook and Cameron Giannini, and help from Tyler Brian and Dinius. The Tiger defense held the Bulldogs to only 6 shots and only 3 on goal. Goalkeeper Nathan Bloom played superbly and aggressively in net coming off his line to win any loose balls within his box.

The Tigers will return to action Friday, September 8th to take on Liberty Christian.
