The Hargrave men finished an exciting 22nd in the nation’s oldest swimming meet, the Eastern Prep School Championship. This year the meet completed the 109th running of this competition.
Hargrave has not faired very well in this meet in recent years, earning no points during the last four showings. However, this year Hargrave scored in the meet and finishing 22nd out of 46 teams.
The team was happy, but now know that we need to practice hard and qualify more swimmers if we hope to improve next year. The competition was the toughest that the men have seen this year and they arose to the occasion.
The team was lead by Andrew Hetzner, who scored in both of his individual events. Andrew finished 8th in the 100 Backstroke and 15th in the 100 Butterfly. We are looking to do more here next year. We came back to Hargrave happy, but not completely satisfied by our performance this year.
