Hargrave 114 – Fork Union 71
The Hargrave men’s swimming team improved their record to 13-0-1 today with a win over rival military school Fork Union Military Academy.
The men started off fast in the first three events, taking an early 38-8 lead. From there, the men won five out of the last nine events. The men went first and second in four of these five events.
The team was lead by senior captain Mike Wheeler, who won both the 200 Free and 100 Breaststroke. James Eu was the only other team member to win two events. James won both the 200 IM and 500 Free. James was followed by Patrick Martelli and Jacob Dole. Pat and Jacob each won one event. Pat won the 100 Fly and finished second in the 200 IM. Jacob won the 100 Free and finished third in the 50 Free. They were followed by Joseph Campbell and Graham Wooten, who each had two second place finishes.
Once again another great performance turned in by the men’s swimming team. The team will next be in action on Friday, January 27th when they take on their biggest rival Woodberry Forest.
Hargrave has a current lifetime record against Woodberry of 0-10. They look to break this long losing streak when they swim them at home at 5:00 PM.
