Hargrave 146 – Fork Union 158
The Tigers dropped a very close meet against Fork Union this afternoon. As fate would have it in a meet between 2 military schools with similar sized teams, they were able to travel with their full team and we were short a couple of team members due to illness, redline, and travel with other clubs. If we could have filled out the lineup for a couple of key events it could easily have gone our way.
Despite that, most of the team swam very hard and we saw a couple of stellar performances. We placed first in every relay, and had a number of fine individual performances. Steven Gasparis swam the 200 Free in 1:48.42, and broke 5 minutes in the 500 Free with a time of 4:59.71. Pat Martelli won the 200 IM and the 100 Fly, Rohan Johnson won the 100 Free, and Drew Bennett won the 100 Back. Divers Stefan Taylor, Nick DiAndrea and Alex Moore went 2, 3 and 4 in the diving competition. It was a valuable lesson in teamwork and the value of even one missing teammate that will serve us well later as we focus on conference and state competition. Go Tigers!
