Varsity Swimming/Diving vs. Virginia State Independent School Championships

Hargrave swam well in Newport News this weekend, finishing sixth in one of the most competitive state championships on record. Four swimmers earned All-State Honors. Hank Lee took two individual slots by finishing 3rd in the 50 Free and 2nd the 100 Free. Lee was joined by Ryan Barrington, Matt Sullins, and Mike Wheeler to finish 3rd in the 200 Free Relay. Lee’s 50 Free (22.18) and 100 Free (49.35) are both 2nd on HMA’s All-Time Top Ten List. Sullins finished 6th in the 200 Free (1:53.54) placing him 5th on our All-Time list and his 6th place 100 Fly time of 57.00 is 6th All-Time. Barrington’s 500 Free (5:07.08 – 9th Place) is 3rd HMA All-Time and his 1:53.65 in the 200 Free (9th) is 6th All-Time. Will Andersen took 7th in the One Meter Diving and his 227.40 point total is 6th HMA All-Time. Rounding out the scoring for HMA: Sullins, Wheeler, Barrington, and Lee teamed up for a 4th place finish in the 400 Free Relay (3:27.23); Bryan Ellett was 10th in Diving (191.90); Harris Lambert was 12 in Diving (175.20); and Brett Bulthuis placed 14th in Diving (137.30). Hargrave will finish it’s 2003-2004 campaign next week in Philadelphia, PA where we will compete in the Eastern Interscholastic Swimming & Diving Championships. Over 100 prep schools from around the nation will gather at LaSalle University in one of the greatest high school meets in the country.
