Varsity Swimming/Diving vs. Woodberry Forest School

The Hargrave Varsity Swimming team took on Woodberry Forest today at a swimming meet. In the ten year existence of the Hargrave varsity program, the team has never beaten Woodberry Forest, and in fact have never swam them to a close meet. Last year, Woodberry beat Hargrave by 60 points. This year the team looked to make a statement about where the program has come. However, the men came up short loosing to Woodberry 90-95.

Hargrave winning 8 out of 12 events could not get over the hump of defeating Woodberry’s depth. The team just ran short of bodies needed to fill holes and keep Woodberry from collecting 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place in some events at the end.

Overall this was the best performance of the year for the men. Swimming 25 lifetime best swims out of 35 total swims, and having a ‘Never Say Die’ attitude throughout the meet. The team looks to stay healthy and continue to improve. They point to this meet next year to end Woodberry’s run over Hargrave.

First place victories were scored by James Eu in the 200 IM and 500 Free, Josh Carden in the 50 Free and 100 Fly, Jon Waltz in the 200 Free and Mike Wheeler in the 100 breast.
