Varsity Tennis Frozen Against Covenant

Dr. Jim Tung

Sub-40 degree weather (29 degrees with windchill… and the Cadets can verify that the wind was blowing…) greeted us at the Charlottesville park where they met up with VIC tennis powerhouse, Covenant. The Tigers just couldn’t seem to get thawed out and were consequently frozen out, 0-9.

Warm spots (enough to keep the icicles at bay) were provided by the duo of Cadets Zachary Bunner and Wei An Chen (2-8) at #3 doubles and Cadet Chase Cooper (1-10) at #6 singles.

The final lineup:

S1. Frankie Chang
S2. Rafael Tudela
S3. Turner Wall
S4. Zachary Bunner
S5. Wei An Chen
S6. Chase Cooper

D1. Kim/Chang
D2. Tudela/Wall
D3. Bunner/Chen

In exhibition play, Cadets Aichinger and Zhao teamed up to gain some valuable experience. Cadet Cooper rallied back from his official match loss to take on another singles opponent in exhibition play and close out the day on a positive note with an unofficial 6-4 victory.
