Varsity Tennis Overcome by Eastern Mennonite Flames

Dr. Jim Tung

The Tigers welcomed their VIC competitors from Harrisonburg, Virginia down on the courts of the Landon Tennis Center. The threatening skies cleared up, and the peeking sun brought up court temperatures and player spirits. Enjoying the home crowd support, the Tigers responded with a definite pep in their step as they took on a solid EMHS Flames squad.

Cadets Haotian Liu and Turner Wall continued to play steady tennis and post wins. Cadet Reid Dantonio returned to the line-up, strengthening the ladder, but several players were still worn down by opponents that just kept grinding on. Cadet Frankie Chang fought to several deuce points but could not capitalize to close out the games. Cadet Rafael Tudela was able to keep his match close before his opponent broke away at 7-7 to close out the match 7-10. Liu was able to post victories at both singles and doubles with partner Cadet Weian Chen.
