Varsity Track & Field team traveled to the Blue Ridge School to compete at the VIC Conference Meet. With cloudy weather and occasional light showers, the boys started off strong winning 1st place in the 4×800 relay, run by Jesse Vogg, Charles Massina, Nick Rice, and Joahcin Taneus! Elyas Harris earned third placed in the Triple Jump with a personal best of 39 feet 7.5 inches. Cameron Spangler also placed third in the Discus with a 95 foot throw.
As the running events picked up, Hargrave gained another key finish with Naheed John coming in second in the 110 hurdles! The 4×100 relay team comprised of Micah Mudlaff, Gabriel Cabral, Elyas Harris, and Riachard Jiang, continued the excellent performance with a second-place finish, followed by Naheed’s third place in the 300 hurdles. Joahcin Taneus and Jesse Vogg finished 3rd and 4th respectively in the 800 meter run, setting up a brilliant 1st place finish by Micah Mudlaff in the 200 meter dash!
The day wrapped up with a very intense 4×400 relay race with all four runners putting up a hard fight right up to the end. The boys managed to earn a 2nd place finish in that race!
Overall, Hargrave finished third in the meet behind Eastern Mennonite and Blue Ridge, but their efforts on Saturday were tremendous! Well done, boys, and congratulations on finishing the Track program’s second year back at Hargrave!
