Wrestling Competes at Tunstall High

Jason Medlin

It was a fast and exciting day for the Hargrave Tiger wrestlers, as they saw action on the mats.   They first faced off against Tunstall in a tight battle that came down to the last match.  First-year wrestler, Hohimer, got a pin to seal the match 42-39.

The second match of the day was against Patrick County.  The Tigers had some good individual matches, but Patrick County revenged last year’s loss with a 54-30 win today.

In the last two matches the Tigers were victorious with a 57-18 win over Halifax and 42-33 win over Liberty (Bedford).

The teams were very well matched and at the end had Patrick County, Tunstall, and Hargrave all with 3-1 records.  To determine the first and second place teams it came down to criteria of total team points of the day.  The points were close but unfortunately, the Tigers ended up third in total points.

Some individual champions and notable record for the day:
Cameron Spangler  4-0
Deven Wallace 4-0
Tyler Morris 3-0
Gabe Medlin 3-1
Max Hohimer 3-1

The Tigers will be traveling to Collegiate on Tuesday and then Covenant on Friday.
