Young Tigers Competed on the Road

On Tuesday afternoon, the Hargrave Tigers traveled to Blue Ridge School in St. George, VA. The Tigers played hard but ultimately fell to Blue Ridge, 7-0, dropping their record to 1-7-1 on the season.

In a season of continuous improvement, this young group showed strides against an older, skilled, and far more developed opponent. Due to injuries, the Tigers were shorthanded and the eleven guys that made the trip left everything they had out on the field. Ultimately, with the odds stacked against them, these young men did all they could against a Blue Ridge squad that eventually defeated the Tigers, 7-0.

Coach Zerpa’s thoughts following the game:
“Our boys never backed down despite adverse results. They continue to play hard and give their best effort, which are great qualities for a young team. Playing against more developed teams may not always result in wins on the scoreboard, but our young men are learning many valuable life lessons. They get to see, first hand, how effective good passing looks like and hopefully that translates into wanting to reach that high level of play. We are thankful for the continued support as our boys grow and continue to learn the game. Special kudos to David Chen for his amazing work in goal, he is giving his best effort and definitely improving.”

The young Tigers will be back in action on Thursday, October 17th as they head to Charlottesville, Virginia for a match with Covenant School. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:30 PM.
