Hargrave Military Academy hosted a signing ceremony for two Cadets on Monday, April 27, 2015. Cadets Dionisio Carey and Tselmeg Ganbold begin their college careers as student-athletes. Carey will swim on Gannon University’s varsity swimming team. Ganbold joins the varsity soccer program at the University of Minnesota in Morris.

“Dionisio Carey joined Hargrave in his sophomore year coming from St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton Florida. He immediately made an impact at Hargrave. Breaking multiple school records and earning All-Conference team honors each and every year, he became the face of the swimming program,” Coach John Eife said. “In addition to his success locally, he also shone brightly at the state and national levels, qualifying as a finalist at the Virginia State championships as well as the eastern interscholastic championship meets. Out of the pool Cadet Carey also was a great addition to the Corps of Cadets at Hargrave. Currently serving as executive officer of the battalion and having served in several leadership positions over the past several years.”

Carey recently won the Boys 15-17 50m Long Course Backstroke event at the XXX CARIFTA 2015 Swimming Championships held at the Barbados Aquatic Centre from April 2-5, 2015 in Barbados. Carey represented the Bahamas National Team in the 17 and Under age division. He is also Hargrave’s Athlete of the Month for January 2015, which recognizes an individual’s superior game performance, attitude and effort. He is the son of Omar and Elva Carey of Nassau, Bahamas.

“Tselmeg has been a crucial part of the Hargrave Soccer program the last few years. His work ethic and desire to play at the collegiate level has a earned him the privilege of having a spot on the University of Minnesota in Morris soccer team,” Coach Jeremy Eubank said. “Tselmeg has been a been a great example for the younger guys in that he does what he has been asked to do in the classroom, on barracks and on the pitch. What is our loss is the University of Minnesota in Morris gain. Myself and the Hargrave soccer program wish him all the best next year.”

Ganbold will graduate Hargrave as an honor graduate with an advanced diploma and is an officer in Hargrave’s chapter of the National Beta Club. He is the son of Ganbold Lkhagvasuren and Saruul Dorsh of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
