Fall 2006 PG Football vs. Harmony Community School (Ohio)

PG Tigers Fall to Harmony

Two a Days and Back to Back Games Takes Toll on weary Tigers

The Hargrave PG Tigers dropped their first game of the season as they fell to Harmony Community School 30-17 on Saturday. The Tigers, who had played a game less than thirty hours prior to kick off, showed obvious signs of fatigue and just could not get thing rolling.

The game opened up in fine fashion for the Tigers as quarterback Andrew Calantone looked to have put the PG’s up 7-0 early on a 60 yard touchdown pass to receiver Quintin McCree, but a very late flag come out of the pocket of the line judge who called the Tigers for holding and negated the scoring strike. The drive would stall and the defense would take the field.

Harmony would find the end zone first when the quarterback dropped back and found his target streaking down the sideline to give his team an early 8-0 lead.

The Tigers would bounce back by moving down the field. The drive stalled on the Harmony thirty-four yard line, but it was no reason to panic. Place kicker Kyle Hughes lined up for what would become the longest field goal known in Hargrave PG history. The 51-yard attempt split the uprights with room to spare and the Tigers trailed 7-3.

Harmony would add another score and the Tigers answered right back when quarterback Emanuel Francis found receiver Ben Finney for his first of two touchdown receptions, this one coming from 30-yards out. The score cut the Harmony lead to six.

Finney caught another scoring strike on the next possession, this one coming from 70 yards down the right side line. The extra point was blocked, but the score remained tied at 16-16.

Harmony chewed up much of the clock with time consuming drives. The PG defense spent most of their time on the field in the second half and the offense only had 16 total plays of offense in the second half.

Harmony scored again and then added another touchdown late to give them the victory. The Tigers will be back in action on September 1st as they travel to Annapolis, MD to take on the Navy Midshipmen. Game time is scheduled for 2:30 PM on Friday. The PG’s will depart on Thursday and stay in Laurel, MD at the Quality Inn and Suites before driving to Annapolis on Friday morning for the game.
