The water temperature was a perfect 78 degrees so it looked to be a fast evening. Our opponents were: Chatham Hall, Salem Academy, North Cross, Virginia Episcopal School, and New Covenant.
On Tuesday the boys added 5 more PB’s to the team tally taking us to 97 which triggered a movie night. Could they achieve another 28 to meet 125 PB’s which would mean a pie in the face to the coaches and captains? I even gave the Captains the opportunity to select everyone’s event to give them the best chance. We are about to find out if it worked!!
- 200 Medley Relay:
- A Relay: Zach Hall; Jake Phetteplace; Eddie Malin; and Leon Qin came in 3rd overall and scored 3 points. Zach’s lead off time of :27.50 was not a PB.
- B Relay: Zachary Zvarych; Jake Bradley; Kelsten Hudson; and Archie Hooper came in 4th overall. Zach’s lead off time of :46.23 was not a PB.
- 200 Freestyle:
- Jack Hatch came in 1st for Hargrave, 3rd overall, and he scored 5 points. Jack dropped 8.28 seconds. The first PB of the evening (98)
- 200 Individual Medley:
- Jake Bradley came in 1st for Hargrave and 3rd overall, and he scored 5 points. No PB.
- 50 Freestyle:
- John Classen came in 1st overall! Scoring the maximum 8 points! He was just outside his PB
- Shawn Dunkle came in 2nd for Hargrave, 5th overall, and scored 3 points. He was just outside his PB.
- Archie Hooper came in 8th overall and he dropped an impressive (for such a short distance) 2.06 seconds. 2nd PB (99).
- Brown Gaddy came in 10th overall and he also dropped time – 0.16 seconds. 3rd PB (The team hits 100!)
- Jake Phetteplace also dropped an impressive amount of time – 3.44 seconds! (101)
- Andy Li was just behind Jake and he dropped 0.71 seconds (102)
- Thanh Nguyen also dropped time – 0.41 seconds (103)
- Will Shen, drum roll please………a massive drop of 12.07 seconds!!! (104)
- Shawn Masese , another impressive time drop – 5.64 seconds (105)
- Zachary Zvarych also dropped time – 0.20 seconds (106)
- Jacob Crowdle developed some cramping midrace and was just outside his PB
- Dylan Herrera was just outside his PB
- 100 Butterfly:
- Eddie Malin looked very strong for the 1st 50 as he went neck and neck with the front group. Unfortunately as a late team arrival his stamina petered out for the last 50. But impressively he did the whole thing without a DQ. A new PB (107)
- 100 Freestyle:
- Leon Qin came in 1st overall! Leon dropped 2.39 seconds and he is now the 2nd fastest on the team in the 100 Freestyle. New PB (108)
- Jerry Li came in 6th overall and he scored 1 point. He dropped 0.66 seconds. (109)
- Shawn Dunkle came in 9th overall and this was his first time swimming this event as an individual event. A new PB (110)
- Thanh Nguyen was just outside his PB
- Shawn Masese dropped more time this evening – 1.54 seconds (111)
- Dylan Herrera was outside his PB
- 500 Freestyle:
- We did not have swimmers in this event
- 200 Freestyle Relay:
- A Relay: Shawn Dunkle; Zach Hall; Eddie Malin; and Leon Qin came in 2nd overall. They scored 5 points. Shawn’s lead off time was not a PB
- B Relay: Brown Gaddy; Jacob Crowdle; Shawn Masese; and Jerry Li came in 5th overall. Brown’s lead off time was not a PB.
- 100 Backstroke:
- Jaeden Frick came in 1st for Hargrave and 4th overall, scoring 4 points. His first time in the event and a new PB (112)
- Jack Hatch did an earlier perfectly executed flip turn but ran out of steam on the last one which was an unfortunate DQ.
- 100 Breaststroke:
- Jerry Li came in 1st for Hargrave and 4th overall. Scoring 4 points. Jerry dropped 0.06 seconds! (113)
- Jake Phetteplace came in 5th overall and scored 3 points. He was just outside his PB
- Will Shen in his first attempt of this event scored a PB! (114)
- Andy Li unfortunately DQ’d with too many kicks per stroke
- 400 Freestyle Relay:
- A Relay: Zach Hall; Archie Hooper; Kelsten Hudson; and Eddie Malin came in 1st overall and scored the maximum 10 points! Zach’s lead off time was not a PB.
- Diving (6-dive format):
- Alex Moore came in 1st with 218.65. No PB
- Kelsten Hudson scored a PB of 198.85 (115) and officially to States!
- Keylen Hudson also with a PB! (116)
