Higdon Shatters Swimming Record

On Wednesday afternoon, as the Tigers hosted Virginia Episcopal School and Chatham Hall, junior, Nathan Higdon took to the water and gave a truly awe-inspiring performance in the 100 yard Breaststroke. The Hargrave record, which was set in 2003, was previously 1:03.28. Higdon swam the event on Wednesday in 1:01.59.

“Incredible. Absolutely incredible,” stated Head Coach, Amanda Weishaar. “Nathan has been a leader for us all year and I’m so proud to see him continue to improve and earn some much deserved recognition for his efforts.” According to Higdon, “It was awesome to learn I broke a school record! I just swam as hard as a I could and tried to do my best for the team. Breaking a school record was just the icing on the cake.”

In addition to Higdon’s record-breaking performance, he also qualified for state in the 100 yard freestyle, which is the fifth event he’s qualified at the state level for this season.
