Rifle Falls to Fishburne

Jacob Kave

The marksmen of HMA performed very well, but fell short to the shooters of Fishburne.  With a loss of 921 to 930, it is important to understand how close this match was.  With 4 top shooters from each team scoring for the team, there are 1200 possible points for each team.  So you can see how small of a margin 9 points can be.  That is each of the 4 scoring members shooting 3 of their 30 targets, 1/8 of an inch closer to the center.  After the first heat of four of our shooters vs 4 of theirs, Hargrave was up by 25 points.  In the second round, one of their shooters had to score above a 205 to win, and they did. This score of 921 is an improvement of 36 points as a team, and a lot of shooters improved dramatically.

Out of all 16 shooters, these were the scoring members of the team:
1st overall- Dylan Moss, 261
Chandler Wilkie- tied for second, 246
Michael Hatcher- 209 (PR, 7th overall)
AJ Thomas- 205(1st year shooter, PR, 9th overall)

The rest of team shot well and improved:
John Mauriello: 195 (1st year shooter, his PR)
Aidan Steinbach: 193 (1st year shooter, PR)
Ian Barkhuizen: 166 (1st year shooter)
Jed Dunkum: 150 (1st year shooter and new addition to the team)

I am very proud of how the young men are improving, and we will continue to be competitive in the military school rifle league. We will next take on MMA on Feb 1st, hosted by Fishburne.
