Swimmers Continue to Perform at High Level

Over the weekend, the Hargrave Tigers hit the road to Roanoke, VA to compete in the Timesland Invitational at the Gator Aquatic Center. Throughout a lengthy day of competition, the Tigers continued to perform at a high level.

This meet, which featured 15 schools with nearly 320 swimmers, saw the Tigers bring 13 eligible swimmers to the pool. In the morning session, every swam their events in the preliminary heats, with the top 16 going to the finals. The Tiger swimmers continued to support their teammates throughout the event and it showed in their overall performances.

Notable Performances Included:
Caleb Chester ’21–personal best 200 freestyle and dropping 5 seconds overall
Gage Crisp ’21–personal best 100 butterfly and dropping nearly 5 seconds from his last meet
Nick DeVeer ’21–made it through to the Consolation Final in the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke. He finished 12th in the finals for the Breaststroke
Ben Gregori ’21–personal best of 50 freestyle (now just 0.71 outside of qualifying for state); and 100 Breaststroke, which saw him be the first alternate for the finals
Nathan Higdon ’21–personal best of 200 IM (and finishing 5th in the finals) and personal best in the 100 Breaststroke (and finishing 2nd in the finals)
Scott Kennedy ’20–personal best of 100 butterfly and dropping 3 seconds from the last meet
Michael Lewis ’20–qualified for the finals and placed 12th in the 50 freestyle
Wesley Marquardt ’21–who qualified for the finals in both the 200 freestyle (finishing 13th) and the 100 freestyle (finishing 13th)
Kayline Pruett ’22–taking nearly 5 seconds off the 100 backstroke and setting a personal best
Jay Thompson ’21–setting a personal best of the 100 freestyle
Corliss Trinkner ’21–setting a personal best in the 100 backstroke by nearly 4 seconds

The 200 IM Relay and 400 Relay teams also made it through to the finals, finishing 8th and 6th respectively.
