The Varsity Tigers Tennis Team welcomed our friends from Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy (SMLCA) for a competitive and friendly match. It was a great day of tennis with strong performances across the board.
Doubles Play
- D1 – David Mathurin (Freshman, Staten Island, NY) and Isaac Wadsworth (Junior, San Antonio, FL) faced Ben and Dylan.
David and Isaac battled through a tough matchup and came out on top with a hard-earned 8–5 win. - D2 – Jerry Li (Junior, Sammamish, WA) and Jackson Pino (Senior, Fayetteville, WV) took on Lily and Payton.
With great chemistry and solid execution, Jerry and Jackson secured a dominant 8–0 victory. - D3 – Carson Smith (Junior, Raleigh, NC) and Téshawn Jamaal Ricks (Senior, Portsmouth, VA) went up against Harrison and Xander.
In a close match full of momentum swings, Carson and TJ dug deep to clinch the win 8–6.
Singles Ladder
- S1 – Brady Ball (Senior, Raleigh, NC) defeated Ben 8–3.
This was the match of the day—intense rallies, powerful serves, great net play. Brady stayed composed and delivered a well-rounded performance against a quality opponent. - S2 – Isaac Wadsworth handled a focused Lily, winning 8–2.
Isaac stayed locked in from the start, showing grit and consistency throughout the match. - S3 – Jackson Pino cruised past Dylan 8–0.
Jackson’s confidence and form continue to climb, and it shows in how he controls the court. - S4 – David Mathurin overpowered Payton 8–2.
David showcased his signature serves and aggressive baseline play, keeping the pressure on from start to finish. - S5 – Charles Gaddy (Junior, Manteo, NC) took on Harrison and earned an 8–1 win.
Charles held serve almost flawlessly, a sign of his continued growth and maturity on the court. - S6 – Carson Smith blanked Xander 8–0.

Exhibition Match
Daxton Xavier Alexander (Senior, Kalispell, MT) squared off against Carrington and earned an 8–1 win.
Daxton is making a strong comeback from injury, showing better movement and renewed energy on the court.
