JV Soccer vs. Holy Cross

May 26, 2011

The Tigers evened the odds against Holy Cross by defeating them on Wednesday. Holy Cross scored twice; their first goal came early in the game and the second one near the end of the same period. Hargrave responded late in the first half with a goal by Chris Stoken with the assist of Tim Weir. Halftime arrived with an adverse score to the Tigers of 1-2. Our players returned to the field playing more aggressively and making a display of passes and team work, creating more opportunities in the field. Chris Stoken scored the goal for the tie and Stephen Poitra, the latest addition to the team, added the third and decisive goal for the Tigers. As in previous games, players J. Sierra, Wes Shea, G. Jennings, M. Broughton, and Nick Lopez contributed greatly to the team in the defense. The offense had the support of Zak Thompson, T. Shelton, and H. Light. Our goalkeeper, James Shelton, guarded our goal fiercely, accumulating over ten saves.
