Varsity Basketball vs. Westover Christian Academy

After a tough overtime loss on Thursday night, Hargrave was able to bounce back and secure a hard fought victory over Westover Christian Academy. It was the Tigers best defensive performance of he year. The Tigers were able to come up with 23 defensive rebounds, 17 steals, and 7 blocks as a team. Leading the way for the Tigers were Nick Barr (13 pts., 3 rebs., and 3 assist), Andrew McDonald (12 pts., 8 rebs., and 5 blks.). Andrew Pughsley (11 pts., 3 assist, and 3 steals), and Victor Ibeh (11 Points, 5 rebs., and 2 steals). Carson Mott (11 points, 4 rebs., 3 steals), Chris Smoot (2 pts., 5 assist, and 2 steals) and Jeffery Oboite (6 pts., 7 rebs., and 2 steals) all contributed with solid performances. It was a total team effort. With the win the Tigers record improves to 4-3 overall and 3-2 VIC. Hargrave returns to action on Monday, January 9th, when the Tigers will play host to the Bulldogs of Liberty Christian Academy. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.

Varsity Basketball vs. North Cross School

The Tigers suffered a hard fought loss to the Radiers of North Cross in overtime 65-61. Leading the way for Hargrave was Andrew Pughsley (21 pts., 4 rebs., 3 steals, and 4 assist) and Andrew McDonald (15 pts., 9 rebs., and 2 blks.) Nick Barr (10 pts., 2 rebs., 2 steals) and Victor Ibeh (7 pts., 5 rebs., and 2 assist) also contributed with solid performances coming off the bench. With the loss the Tigers record falls to 3-3 overall and 2-2 VIC. Hargrave returns to action on Friday, January 6th, when the Tigers will host Westover Christian Academy. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

The Tigers suffered a hard fought loss to the defending state champions of Holy Cross, by the score of 72-61. Leading the way for the Tigers were juniors Andrew Pughsley (22 pts., 4 rebs., and 2 steals), Nick Barr (11 pts., 2 steals, and 2 assist), and Danny Wrigley (10 pts., 6 rebs., and 2 blks.). Jeffrey Oboite (2 pts., 5 rebs., and 2 assist), Andrew McDonald ( 4 pts., 6 rebs., and 1 blk.), Brian Sigmon (4 points, 4 rebs., and 2 steals), and Chris Smoot ( 2 pts., 2 rebs., 1 steal, and 1 assist) also chipped in with solid performances. With the loss the Tigers record falls to 3-2 overall and 2-1 VIC. Hargrave will return to action on Thursday, December 15th, when the Tigers will travel to Roanoke Valley Christian. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 pm.

The Tigers got their second victory of the young season with a hard fought victory over the Tornados of Timberlake Christian Academy. Leading the way for Hargrave were Juniors Andrew Pughsley (18 pts., 6 rebs.,and 3 steals), Danny Wrigley (10 pts., 15 rebs., and 2 blks.), and Mark Manning (6 pts., 6 assist, and 3 steals). Freshman Victor Ibeh (15 pts. and 9 rebs.) also had a solid game coming off the bench. Junior Jeffrey Oboite (2 pts., 9 rebs., and 1 blk) contributed with a solid performance by pulling down some huge rebounds on the defensive boards. Once again it was a total team effort with nine players contributing to the final score. With the win the Tigers record improves to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in VIC. Hargrave returns to the hardwoods on Thursday, December 8th, when the Tigers will host Roanoke Catholic. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.

USA Swimming vs. Blue Moon Invitational (Age Group – 12 & Unders)

Outstanding performances by Hargrave Aquatics' 12 & Under members led to an exciting meet for the team. Sarah Murphy captured four first place wins, three Freestyle and one Backstroke. Jason Reese place seven out of eight swims in the top three. Other first place winners included Jacob Conner, Jennifer Murphy and Joseph Campbell.

The Tigers kicked off the 2005-2006 season by defeating Westover Christian Academy 91-41. Leading the way for Tigers was Andrew Pughsley (17 pts., 3 steals,and 3 assist), Mark Manning (13 pts., 6 rebs., and 8 steals), Carson Mott ( 12 pts., 7 rebs., and 3 steals), Danny Wrigley (11 points, 8 rebs., and 2 blks). Andrew McDonald (8 pts., 8 rebs., and 3 blks) also contributed with a great performance on both ends of the floor. It was a total team effort, with every player contributing to the win. With the win Hargrave's record improves to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the VIC. The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, December 6th, when they will travel to Timberlake Christian Academy. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

The Tigers lost a hard fought game to the Gaels of Holy Cross by a score of 75-65. Leading the way for the Tigers was Clarence Conrad (27 pts., 7 rebounds, and 3 steals) and Ryan King (16 pts., 7 rebounds and 2 steals). Senior James Eversley (5 pts., 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks) also had a solid game on both ends of the floor. Junior, Andrew McDonald (10 pts., 6 rebs., and 4 blocks) had another solid game coming off the bench for the Tigers. With the loss the Tigers finish their season with a 12-9 overall and 11-5 VIC record.

Varsity Basketball vs. Fishburne Military Academy – 1st Round VIC Play-off Championship

The Tigers won their first round VIC tournament game against Fishburne Military Academy by a score of 68-50. Leading the way for the Tigers were Ryan King (27 pts., 10 rebounds, and 2 steals) and Clarence Conrad (25 pts., 4 rebounds, and 4 steals). Junior, Andrew McDonald (6 pts., 5 rebounds and 5 blocks) had a solid game off the bench for the Tigers. With the win Hargrave improves to 12-8 overall and 11-4 VIC. Hargrave will now move onto the semifinals and will play the winner of the Miller/Holy Cross game. The game will tip-off at 9:00 AM at Lynchburg College.

The Hargrave Aquatics Tigers began the first meet of their Short Course season in Roanoke under the direction of Head Coach Allan Andersen. Several top performances by the team made our first meet extremely successful.

The Tigers concluded their regular season on Monday night with a 81-51 victory over Roanoke Valley Christian. Leading the way for Hargrave was Seniors James Eversley (20 pts., 8 rebs., 4 assist., and 4 steals), Ryan King (15 pts., 7 rebs., and 2 steals), Clarence Conrad (13 pts., 4 rebs., and 3 steals) and Terry Teal (10 pts., 5 assist, and 4 steals). Junior, Andrew McDonald (10 pts., 5 rebs., and 3 blks.) also had a great game coming off the bench in support. With the win the Tigers record improves to 11-8 overall and 10-4 VIC. Hargrave returns to action on Thursday, February 24th, when the Tigers will travel to Lynchburg College for the opening rounds of the VIC tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.

The Tigers won a very close game at North Cross on Wednesday by the score of 55-54. Leading the way for the Tigers were Ryan King (14 pts., 7 rebs., and 3 assist), Clarence Conrad (12 pts., 5 assist, and 3 steals), and James Eversley (10 pts., 10 rebs., and 8 steals). Junior, Andrew McDonald (10 pts., 5 rebs., 2 assist, and 2 steals) and Sophomore, Jeffrey Oboite (4 pts., 6 rebs., and 2 steals) also had big games on both ends of the floor. With the win the Tigers record improves to 10-8 overall and 9-4 in the VIC. Hargrave return to the hardwoods for our final regular season game on Monday, Feb. 21st, when we will host Roanoke Valley Christian School. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.

The Tigers won a hard fought game against the Bulldogs of LCA last night by a score of 64-57. Leading the way for the Tigers were seniors Ryan King (24 pts., 5 rebs., and 2 steals) and James Eversley (19 pts., 15 rebs., 5 steals, and 3 blks.) Andrew McDonald (8 pts., 6 rebs., and 3 blks.) and Jeffrey Oboite (4 points and 8 rebs.) also had solid nights on the defensive end of the floor. Senior guard, Clarence Conrad (8 pts., 4 rebs., and 3 assist) contributed by hitting four big free throws at the end to help seal the win. With the victory Hargrave's record improves to 9-8 overall and 8-4 in the VIC. Hargrave returns to action on Wedenesday, Feb. 16th, when the Tigers will travel to North Cross. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

The Tigers got a huge win Tuesday night when they defeated the Gaels of Holy Cross 74-61. Leading the way for the Tigers were seniors Ryan King (17 pts, 9 rebs., and 4 steals) and James Eversley (15 pts., 10 rebs., 4 assist, and 4 steals). Senior point guard Terry Teal (11 pts, 6 rebs., and 4 steals) also had a solid night on both ends of the court. The biggest surprise of the night came from the play of reserve guard Justin Boyd (15 pts., 3 rebs., and 2 steals). With the win Hargrave's record improves to 8-6 overall and 7-2 VIC. The Tigers return to the hardwoods on Thursday, Feburary 3rd when the team will travel to Lynchburg, Virginia to take on the Tornados of Timberlake Christian Academy. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
